WHAT KARA HELPS WITH

People often seek therapy during periods of significant stress and when they are feeling overwhelmed, discouraged, or uncertain about next steps.

Therapy focuses on increasing self-understanding, strengthening emotional flexibility, and identifying realistic ways to reduce distress and improve day-to-day functioning.

Kara offers a supportive and thoughtful therapeutic space for adults who are trying to make sense of what they're experiencing and determine how to move forward. Her work focuses on helping clients better understand their emotional worlds, recognize long-standing patterns, and develop more effective ways of coping and relating.

INDIVIDUALS

Kara works with adults who are navigating:

  • Life transitions, role changes, or unexpected stressors
  • Substance abuse concerns
  • Relationship or family system challenges
  • Anxiety, depression, or chronic emotional stress
  • The emotional impact of acute or chronic health problems
ADDICTION & RECOVERY

Kara has an extensive background in treating the disease of addiction and brings years of experience from outpatient, residential, and hospital settings. She is deeply committed to supporting individuals affected by alcoholism and drug abuse, as well as their family members.

Clients often work with Kara to:

Explore emotional factors connected to substance use
Develop healthy skills for emotion management
Strengthen stability and confidence in recovery
Address shame, guilt, and self-judgment
Understand and repair the impact of addiction on relationships
TRAUMA-INFORMED CARE

Kara has training in trauma-informed care and in conducting EMDR. While she is not currently offering EMDR due to providing services via telehealth, her work remains trauma-aware and carefully paced. She has experience supporting individuals with trauma histories and prioritizes collaboration and respect for each client's individual needs.

KARA'S THERAPEUTIC APPROACH

Warm, supportive, and engaged — while also being honest, direct, and transparent.

She integrates a psychodynamic framework with evidence-based interventions and skills-based approaches, helping clients understand deeper emotional patterns while also developing practical tools for managing stress and relationships.

She believes effective therapy combines insight, emotional processing, and skill-building within a strong therapeutic relationship. Clients often describe Kara as warm, thoughtful, and non-judgmental.
